Harrah's North Star Riverboat to Leave Kansas City

KANSAS CITY—August 2, 2001--The Kansas City Star:"Harrah's North Star riverboat is scheduled to float away today or early Friday to a new berth in Illinois.

"Harrah's North Kansas City Casino & Hotel closed the 31,600-square-foot North Star in late June before the opening of the 30,000-square-foot second deck of its sister Mardi Gras, which consolidated all casino operations under one roof.

"Las Vegas-based Harrah's Entertainment Inc., will relocate the North Star to the Ohio River town of Metropolis, Ill., where it will replace a 24,000-square-foot boat at the Harrah's-owned Players Island casino complex, which is undergoing a $67 million upgrade.
