Harrah's Chairman, Tom Jones Inducted into Gaming Hall of Fame10 June 2003ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: “The man who helped build Harrah's into a national casino chain and a singer synonymous with casino showrooms will be the next Gaming Hall of Fame inductees. “Phil Satre, chairman of Harrah's Entertainment Inc., and Tom Jones will be inducted July 26 at the 15th annual Gaming Hall of Fame Dinner at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. “The American Gaming Association announced the selections Monday, two months after it said the Hall of Fame induction would be held outside of Las Vegas for the first time. “…Satre, 53, retired as chief executive officer Dec. 31 but remains chairman. “He joined Harrah's in 1980 as vice president and general counsel. Four years later he became president of Harrah's East, overseeing Harrah's Marina and Harrah's at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. “… When Satre started with Harrah's, it had just two casinos - in Reno and Lake Tahoe. Today, it's a $4.1 billion company with 26 casinos in 13 states. “Jones, 63, began his singing career with his own group, Tommy Scott and the Senators. “…Jones is now on a worldwide tour that includes seven casino engagements in the United States. His Hall of Fame induction coincides with a four-day gig at Resorts Atlantic City…” |
