Harrah's Attains NAACP Las Vegas' Top Sponsor Position

22 November 2005

LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Furthering its commitment to advancing diversity initiatives in southern Nevada, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) is a platinum-level corporate sponsor of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Las Vegas Branch 1111. Harrah's sponsorship places it at the Las Vegas NAACP's highest level of financial support for 2005 -- the only company in southern Nevada to hold this leadership position.

"The Las Vegas Branch of the NAACP is truly appreciative of Harrah's Entertainment's immediate and hefty financial support," said Dean Ishman, president of the NAACP Las Vegas Branch. "Harrah's funding came at a crucial time and allowed us to continue operating in a successful and responsive manner by meeting several of our most pressing needs. We believe we can better serve southern Nevada thanks in part to Harrah's generosity."

Harrah's funding will help the local branch advance its mission of ensuring the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to further the cause to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.

Separately, Anthony Gladney, Harrah's vice president of national diversity relations, was recently recognized for his pioneering endeavors and leadership in increasing diversity within the gaming industry during his established tenure on the Las Vegas Strip. Gladney was honored as one of 10 Las Vegans who contributed to making the hospitality industry more inclusive during the past 100 years by Nevada Partners, a Las Vegas non-profit organization that helps unemployed and underemployed individuals develop the necessary skills to become employable.

"Being recognized by the community as one of the ten most influential African-American voices in Las Vegas during the past century is a prestigious honor," said Fred Keeton, Harrah's chief diversity officer. "We applaud Tony and his enduring dedication to advancing and promoting the needs of diverse constituents within the gaming industry. Based on his expertise and experience, we believe his contributions to Harrah's are invaluable as we continue expanding and reinforcing our diversity programs in Nevada and nationwide."

In recognition of his many accomplishments in increasing opportunities for people of color and his role as a community advocate, Gladney received the 2005 "Reflections: A Centennial Celebration of African American Achievement" award from the organization.
