DETROIT, Michigan – (Press Release) --Aug. 27, 2000 -- Following a week of exciting activities that will include a charity event, a VIP party and practice play nights, Greektown Casino will open for business on Friday, Nov. 10, pending final approvals from the state.

The Sault Tribe owns and operates five popular Kewadin Casino properties in northern Michigan. With the opening of Greektown Casino, the Sault Tribe will become the first Native Tribe to open a commercial casino in the United States.

Greektown Casino Chief Operating Officer Michael V. Mecca said fun and excitement are the themes of grand opening week.

``It will be a week to remember and a week when you will want to be in Greektown and at Greektown Casino,'' Mecca said. ``Our guests will find Greektown Casino to be the most luxurious casino in the market. They will also find an incredible selection of restaurants and entertainment lounges in Greektown Casino and throughout the Greektown District.''

Greektown Casino is in the heart of Greektown, Detroit's fun-town neighborhood. A total entertainment destination, Greektown Casino will feature 2,400 slot machines and 104 table games in 75,000 square feet of luxurious Mediterranean-themed gaming space.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) will meet September 5 to consider issuing a Certificate of Suitability to Greektown Casino.
