Grand Opening of Golden Bears Casino Announced30 September 1998MINNEAPOLIS -- Great Spirit, Inc. (OTC BB: GSPI) has announced that the grand opening of the Golden Bears Casino on Highway 101 near Crescent City, California, is scheduled for October 16. The casino opened for business during the second week of August for its pre-opening operations. The grand opening is timed to coincide with the opening of a new convenience store and retail gas station adjacent to the casino. "We are very pleased with the gaming results to date... particularly with no announcements or advertising," noted Bruce Nedegaard, chairman of Great Spirit. "The casino has had positive gaming results every week since we opened and the trends are excellent. We expect the new retail facilities will boost the casino traffic materially." The retail facilities will include a 3,200 sq. ft. convenience store that will sell grocery items, liquor and tobacco products. Six slot machines and an ATM machine are to be included. A twelve-fill gas station plus three truck bays, all under canopy, will capture considerable traffic from the interstate highway adjoining the facility. "Since there are no federal taxes on liquor, gasoline or tobacco products at this facility, consumers and truckers will benefit from reduced prices. Furthermore, the facility will have attractive margins and earn more than typical operations," stated Mr. Nedegaard. Great Spirit provides finance and construction services to Indian tribes for retail and casino operations under multi-year, profit-sharing arrangements. Great Spirit also provides financing for an off-shore Internet gaming company which started operations recently. |
