GoldenPalace.com Goes Shoe Shopping1 November 2004ST. JOHNS, Antigua – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Internet casino GoldenPalace.com went on a shopping spree this weekend at the online Stuart Weitzman Celebrity Shoe Auction for Breast Cancer Research, purchasing shoes decorated by: Celine Dion, Hilary Duff, Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson, Cher, 50 Cent, Queen Latifah, Pink, Peter Frampton, Alicia Keys, and Macy Gray. The music stars put their own personal touch on each of the shoes such as rap artist 50 Cent's white and pink crystals on a gray pump along with a 50-cent piece affixed at the heel, and Queen Latifah's regal pump in bright magenta, with a crown adorning the toe. The total amount spent by GoldenPalace.com to buy the shoes was just over $18,000, with all proceeds going to fund Breast Cancer research in the hopes of advancing treatment and finding a cure for the deadly disease. The online casino recently made headlines when they purchased the Beckham Ball and the Ellen DeGeneres one-of-a-kind Cabbage Patch Kid through eBay. Both items have since been used to raise over $200,000 for various charities. In order to increase the value of the items, which will be used to make even more money for charity, GoldenPalace.com intends to send the shoes into space along with the other items they have bought through auctions. As part of the Ansari X Prize, GoldenPalace.com has sponsored the da Vinci Project which will send a commercial spacecraft into sub-orbital space. "We are pleased to have helped contribute to this cause and hopefully this will be a step forward in finding a cure," said GoldenPalace.com CEO Richard Rowe. "We intend to use these items to raise even more money for charity in the near future."
