Global Payment Technologies, Inc. To Launch New Synergy Line At the World Gaming Congress4 October 2000VALLEY STREAM, New York--(Press Release)--Oct. 4, 2000--Global Payment Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ Symbol:GPTX), a leading manufacturer and innovator of currency acceptance systems used in the worldwide gaming, beverage, and vending industries, today announced that it will launch its new Synergy product line at the World Gaming Congress, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada October 18 - 20, 2000. The revolutionary ARGUS validator (formerly buzz-named GIII) is the initial product to be debuted in GPT's Synergy line. ARGUS inherits its name from the Greek mythological ``all seeing guardian'' who had the ability to see in all directions at all times. ARGUS is a worldwide note validator, which can process multi-country databases, consisting of up to 30 notes (between 2.44 inches to 3.35 inches in width), in 4 directions. ARGUS is designed to be a one size fits all validator, that uses the same hardware for every currency throughout the world. ARGUS is also equipped with a standard bar code reader, which has the added capability of reading coupons and currency at the same time. ``This greatly simplifies our customers' design and inventory requirements and allows the flexibility of easily converting the product to a new country database by downloading software. GPT expects to redefine the role of the validator in the Synergy line from a `bank-note acceptor' to a `multi-medium transaction processor,'' explains Bill Nader, Global Payment Technologies' Senior Vice President, Sales and Business Development. In addition to ARGUS, GPT's Synergy line will also initially consist of the following products: - A universal security lockable Stacker capable of handling notes from 60 to 85 mm. - The patented SDA (Soft Drop Analyzer) stacker option, which enables financial and technical performance data to be retrieved directly from the Stacker. - Palm Pilot(TM) hand-held downloading device and application software that provides the user with the ability to download and troubleshoot validators in the field. In the future, GPT plans to offer with ARGUS the option of incorporating smart-card and mag-card technologies. The ARGUS sensor system has a patented Red, Green, Blue and Infrared (RGBI) optical array, which generates 56 channels of high-resolution data. It is arranged in a unique layout that allows for the analysis of a note's signature (fingerprint) without any gaps between optical sensors. The optical information provided by ARGUS is reflective (off the note), transmissive (through the note) and a combined RGB pattern of reflective data to create a color signature of the note being evaluated. The ARGUS validator also has a high-sensitivity magnetic sensor and high-resolution Side-Looking Sensors(TM). ``ARGUS is both evolutionary and revolutionary,'' adds Nader. ``It is evolutionary in that it is compatible with the current Generation II products used in over 50 countries today and revolutionary in that it will lead the industry in features, flexibility and performance. Further, when the optical information is used alongside with the magnetic sensor, the validator sets new standards for worldwide currency acceptance and fraud rejection. GPT anticipates releasing additional products in the future that will join the Synergy line of products and will continue its research and product development efforts to offer products that set new standards in the gaming, beverage, and vending industries.'' Global Payment Technologies, Inc. is a United States-based designer, manufacturer, and marketer of automated currency acceptance and validation systems used to receive and authenticate currencies in a variety of payment applications worldwide. |
