Global Interactive Gaming Names New COO28 July 2004WEST PATERSON, New Jersey – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Interactive Systems Worldwide Inc., (Nasdaq: ISWI) today announced that Mr. Stephen Salmon has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer of its wholly owned subsidiary, Global Interactive Gaming Ltd (GIG). Mr. Salmon was previously the Director of Operations, responsible for new project management and Gaming Operations. In his new role, Mr. Salmon will be responsible for all activities at GIG except accounting functions, which will continue to report to Mr. James McDade, ISWI's CFO. Mr. Salmon has a BA degree in Finance and Accounting from Portsmouth University. He has over 18 years of experience, principally in management and consulting for technical organizations, most recently related to data processing and interactive television applications. In his previous employment he was the head of consulting and a founder of Smashed Atom, Ltd., a joint venture of Telewest Communications, the British cable television giant, and the Stanford Research Institute, one of the world's largest research and technology companies. In that role he was responsible for the consultancy group's financial performance and the initiation, development and delivery of all consultancy projects. His position at GIG had been similar, where, in addition to directing gaming operations, GIG's main income source, he was responsible for all new implementation projects, the major one of which is the integration of the SportXction(TM) play-by-play wagering system into the BSkyB satellite television system for delivery to its over 6 million customers. Mr. Salmon had previously passed the professional chartering examinations of the ACMA. GIG licenses and operates ISWI's patented play-by-play sports wagering and sports competition systems for wagering companies and sports-content providers internationally. It currently is conducting wagering and competitions at a rate of over 1,000 sports events per year. The sports covered include soccer, tennis, golf, cricket and rugby. The Company can also offer football, baseball and hockey. The Company expects to add horseracing, motor sports, snooker and darts over the coming year. Horseracing is planned for release first due to its great prominence in international wagering, still being more popular than sports betting by a substantial measure. As with all of its sports, ISWI's horse racing system will be at fixed odds, which is the international standard. The Sportxction(TM) system presently works over the Internet, mobile telephone and from fixed terminals in betting facilities. The Company is currently completing the development of an interactive television version of its wagering system. It is now undergoing network integration testing, prior to entering final tests. All of ISWI's systems will work with the user's choice of languages and currency and are used for wagering on sporting events played in many venues worldwide. GIG is ISWI's international gaming operations and marketing arm. GIG currently sub-licenses ISWI's patented play-by-play sports wagering system to wagering companies. None of ISWI's systems may be used for wagering operations when such activities are illegal. Located atop the landmark Centre Point Tower, the tallest building in central London, the GIG offices include all of the adjuncts needed to conduct worldwide operations: satellite receivers, broadcast suites, communications and computer facilities, plus trained bookmakers, computer operators and customer support personnel. It is ISWI's hub for all international sporting event operations. |
