GLI Celebrates Grand Opening of World Headquarters29 October 2002LAKEWOOD, New Jersey -- (Press Release) -- Gaming Laboratories International, Inc. (GLI) celebrated the grand opening of its newly built World Headquarters in Lakewood, New Jersey. GLI co-founders James R. Maida and Paul J. Magno welcomed more than 250 guests at the festivities, including a mix of gaming regulators, gaming suppliers, media, employees, family members, and local dignitaries. In the crowd were Lakewood Mayor Raymond Coles, Lakewood Committee Member Marta Harrison, Lakewood Development Corporation Chief Russell Corby and New Jersey State Senator Robert W. Singer. In addition to corporate offices, the custom-designed 40,000 square-foot building is home to numerous departments: Quality Assurance independently reviews all GLI test results prior to release to any of the more than 300 global jurisdictions GLI serves. The Video Lottery Laboratory conducts testing for lottery products in the western hemisphere. The Casino Device Testing Laboratory specializes in testing of new and prototype games for jurisdictions around the world. The space also includes a secure warehouse where forensic exams of slot machines involved in player disputes take place. Two distinct features of the new headquarters underscore GLI's global reach: Prominently displayed in the lobby are seven clocks, one for each of GLI's offices. Also on display is a porcelain sculpture titled "Global Peace." The sculpture was designed and produced at the Boehm Porcelain Galleries in Trenton, N.J., and is identical to a sculpture at the United Nations in New York. President Ronald Reagan originally presented the sculpture to then-Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev in 1987. Gaming Laboratories International, Inc., currently operates wholly owned and fully staffed gaming test laboratories in Lakewood, N.J.; Golden, Colo.; Las Vegas, Nev.; GLI Europe, B.V. in Hillegom, The Netherlands; GLI Africa in Midrand, South Africa and provides test and evaluation services in the Australasian jurisdictions through Gaming Laboratories Australia under license in Adelaide and Sydney. GLI employees number approximately 200 worldwide, providing more than 60,000 certifications annually to over 360 gaming regulatory bodies worldwide. GLI was founded in 1989 by James R. Maida and Paul J. Magno and was the first independent laboratory of its kind. |
