Gaming giants come together in project19 February 2008CONNECTICUT -- As reported by the Hotel Interactive: "When the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods opens this coming May, it will signal a major sea change for both the Connecticut casino resort and the renowned gaming company. It's a unique partnership that will extend both brand names into new territories: For MGM Mirage Corp, it gets the company into a new market for its hotel management division. And Foxwoods' marketers will get access to a brand name that more fully resonates in the consumer mindset across the globe. "It will also give the Mashantucket Indian Tribe a sparkling new $700 million resort that's more upscale than its previous offerings. "...Unlike the myriad previous expansions that have turned Foxwoods into one of the two largest casino resort destinations on Earth, this is the first time the Tribe has set out to create an entirely separate resort on property. In fact, MGM Grand at Foxwoods will be physically spilt by a sky-bridge from the rest of the resort, symbolically creating a wholly new guest experience. "It's a strategy resort and Tribe executives believe will help them capture additional market share, achieve premium pricing and increase brand recognition..."
