Game Warden Hits Largest Slot Jackpot in Louisiana History

27 June 2003

VINTON, Louisiana – (Press Release) -- Kyle Hilton DeVillier from Schiro, Texas won an $8,718,983.53 MegaJackpot on a Wheel of Fortune dollar slot machine at the Delta Downs Race Track on Tuesday evening. It is the largest slot machine jackpot in the history of Louisiana gaming.

DeVillier, a 43-year-old game warden, had played only $6 on the machine when he hit the record jackpot and had only $7 in credits left to wager.

"I had weak knees," DeVillier said, after realizing he had become an instant multi-millionaire.

With his winnings DeVillier says he wants to buy a larger home and put his two children through college, and he is adamant his newly acquired wealth will not change the person he was beforehand.

Delta Downs' high-quality service and convenient location near DeVillier's Texas home were the main reasons he visited the southwest Louisiana casino, he added.
