Gambling Debt Leads to Suicide

ZIMBABWE – As reported by the Zimbabwe Herald: After failing to accept a $7 000 (US$126.24) gambling loss, a Mberengwa man decided the only way out of the shame was to kill himself.

"He was found dead, dangling from a tree, barely a few metres from where he had lost the cash on a gambling game.

"Police confirmed the death of Tinomuda Shoko (33) of Mzila village in Chief Mataga's area in Mberengwa.

"Shoko, according to police spokesman Assistant Inspector Machiveyi Gwembe, lost the cash to fellow workers from Magnum Funeral Hunters Mine on Sunday. A passerby found him dead before notifying his gambling partners who then made a report to the police. No foul play is suspected, said Insp Gwembe…"
