GalaxiWorld Internet Casino Set to Open by Late April8 January 1998NEW YORK -- GalaxiWorld, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gaming Lottery Corporation, will be introducing a live Internet gaming site, also to be called GalaxiWorld (www.galaxiworld.com), to the public in April 1998. It will feature 52 casino games—more than any other Internet casino—including blackjack, poker, roulette, video poker, lotteries, keno, slots and more. "We have developed extensive experience in this industry, and we've got a good feeling about Internet gaming," Executive VP and CFO Larry Weltman said. "It has the potential to be a billion-dollar industry, something our shareholders should be quite intrigued by. "By the time GalaxiWorld goes live, GLC will have invested over $25 million in this project. This money is being dedicated to creating the most realistic casino experience possible for the Internet user, while also ensuring our investors that they own a share of the standard-bearer for gambling over the Internet." The new casino, which will initially go live with over 30 games, will use Java applets and won't require downloads to play. Visitors will be able to play intricate casino from anywhere within minutes of logging on. In addition to the games mentioned above, GalaxiWorld will feature a sports book, keno, cumulative lotteries, and progressive jackpots. Beta versions of first generation video poker and slot machines are currently available for free on a trial basis. Gaming Lottery Corporation is a publicly traded company that originally marketed and manufactured lottery and related gaming tickets. They completed the divestiture of all of its subsidiaries involved in the manufacture of paper products following the decision to expand into the technology, electronic, and digital sectors of the gaming industry.
