Foxwoods Staffers Get OK To Wear Flag Pins On Badges

Mashantucket – As reported by the Day: `` Foxwoods security staff are again wearing American flag pins on their uniforms after casino officials reversed a decision to forbid the patriotic pins.

``Some security employees were upset by Assistant Director Barbara Pecuch's July 30 memorandum saying that American Flag pins distributed by the casino “in deference to the 9/11 terrorist attacks” were now prohibited. The department issued another memo Monday that said the pins would be allowed since they were issued by the casino and fit the department dress code. .

``…`For the most part, we have not forgotten 9-11, nor are we blind to the fact that U.S. military personnel are being killed every day in Iraq,” one employee wrote in a note.

``The employee said most of the 600-odd security employees continued to wear their flag pins, but the department issued the memo forbidding them after one employee wore a pin with the picture of Malcolm X.

``…Casino spokesman Bruce MacDonald said …most security, police and military forces have a code that specifies what they can attach to their clothing…”
