Foxwoods Service Honors Workers Lost in Nightclub Fire3 March 2003NORWICH, Connecticut – As reported by the Norwich Bulletin: `` Foxwoods Casino mourned two of its workers and several workers relatives who died Feb. 20 in The Station nightclub fire. ``…From Foxwoods President Bill Sherlock on down, mourners at a multi-media memorial Friday for casino employees who died in the Feb. 20 Station Club fire said the entire work force felt the tragedy keenly, however close they were to the victims. ```I feel this is as big a tragedy as what happened a year and a half ago, with 9-11,' Sherlock said at the start of the memorial in the Fox Theater. `People left their homes to have a good time or to go to work. They never returned.' ``Henault, 37, was an accountant at the casino. Kristin McQuarrie, a waitress at the Branches Restaurant in the Two Trees Inn, also died in the fire. ``More than 100 people attended the service. The Rev. Jackie Sheldon of St. James Episcopal Church in Poquetanuck delivered a sermon that did not shy away from the pain of the event, but tried to offer some hope for the survivors…" |
