Foxwoods Manager's Innovations Paying Off16 June 2003CONNECTICUT – As reported by the Connecticut Day: “Side bets and slot machine bonuses are paying off for Ken Perrie. “The 43-year-old shift manager at Foxwoods Resort Casino started inventing new features for casino table games, like the Super Sevens and Over/Under 13 side bets for blackjack, during the decade he worked at Caesars in Lake Tahoe. He continued concocting new games after coming to Foxwoods in its fledgling years, switching over to slot machine inventions about six or seven years ago. “Perrie successfully formats board games like Yahtzee, Battleship and Trivial Pursuit for slot machine play and sells them to large gaming manufacturers like International Game Technologies and Mikohn. His creations are played in casinos throughout the world. His next project to hit the market this fall is an IGT slot machine game with a jigsaw puzzle theme called `Totally Puzzled.’ “…Why, then, does Perrie still work full-time at Foxwoods? When he started inventing games he thought the time might come when he would not have to work. “...Perrie, who lives in Norwich, realized he is attached to the daily casino action. His employers support his inventive side work. He helps casino managers analyze new games they are considering adding to the casino floor and gets ideas from people he works with. “He's so devoted to the industry he even spends some of his vacation time at casinos in other jurisdictions. “…Growing up in southern California before there were casinos, Perrie got his first taste of the industry in nearby Las Vegas…” |
