Foxwoods ends state investigation21 March 2001The state investigation of alleged regulation violations related to the recruitment of high-rolling clientele at Foxwoods Resort Casino has finally ended. The casino paid US$30 000 and six casino executives signed consent decrees. The consent decrees included accusations against two executives, accusing them of giving a patron and his girlfriend US$45 000 in cash compensation vouchers, and issuing a fake receipt. An additional decree stated that another executive allegedly approved large amounts of credit to a junket operator knowing that the money was being loaned to junket patrons for gambling. The six executives in question have all been reprimanded by the Mashantucket Gaming Commission. Although the use of “cash comps” is standard practice today, the alleged violations took place in the 1990s when state regulations prohibited their use. They are now legal in Connecticut. |
