Four Split $37.8 Million Canadian Lottery Jackpot

20 May 2002

OTTAWA, Canada – As reported by the Ottawa Herald: "Two winners from Quebec and one each from British Columbia and Saskatchewan will split the record-breaking $37.8-million Super 7 jackpot.

"So many people wanted a piece of the largest lottery prize in Canadian history that the lottery corporation's computers were overwhelmed, delaying the draw more than three hours later than normal.

"..Last-minute sales were so brisk that the jackpot swelled by more than 10 per cent on the final day of ticket sales. Nearly half the $2 tickets were sold in Ontario, which alone accounted for $45.7 of the $102 million in sales nationwide.

"…Ontario sales accounted for six of the 12 second prizes of $157,970. Those tickets were sold in Lindsay, Toronto, Hamilton, Cambridge, Kitchener and Oakville."
