Four Plea Guilty on Gambling Fraud22 November 2001WALKER, Minnesota – Nov. 22, 2001 –As reported by the (Minnesota) Brainerd Daily Dispatch: "Four men accused of taking Ski Gull pull-tab receipts at Kelly's Bar west of Gull Lake, using identification from people who had lost their driver's licenses, pleaded guilty Monday in Cass County District Court to lawful gambling fraud. "…Lee Timothy Johnson, 35, Brainerd, and Ryan Todd VanBrunt, 27, Nisswa, pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor lawful gambling fraud. "…Robert John Martin, 34, Brainerd, pleaded guilty to an amended misdemeanor lawful gambling fraud count and was ordered to pay a $535 fine and $575 restitution. "…Delbert Alan Laughlin, 29, Lake Shore, pleaded guilty to felony lawful gambling fraud. "…Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement agents and Minnesota Gambling Control Board investigated the gaming operation at Kelly's Bar after a customer reported to Ski Gull charitable gambling officials that some pull-tabs had been `peeked,' meaning they appeared partially opened. "An audit of the games was conducted, showing winners to be the names of five people who had each lost their driver's license. Those people's names were forged on prize winning receipts, according to the complaints…" |
