5 August 2003

MAYETTA – As reported by the Topeka Capital- Journal: ``A man who held a knife to his throat was arrested early today after a four-hour standoff at Harrah's Prairie Band Casino.

``Jackson County sheriff's deputies and Pottawatomie Tribal Police Department officers responded at about 3 a.m. to assist in a disturbance regarding a group of unruly customers at the casino, Undersheriff Steve Rupert said. When officers arrived, one man broke away from the group and went into the hotel portion of the building, authorities said.

``Sheriff's deputy Brian Clark and a police dog tracked the man, identified as Robert Lombardo, 30, of the Kansas City area, into a laundry room, where he was found in a crawl space with a knife to his throat.

``… Lombardo surrendered at about 7 a.m. today and was arrested. No one was injured…”
