Former Australian Gaming Watchdog Keeps Salary19 September 2002Victoria's chief gaming watchdog will keep a salary of more than $170,000 a year -- despite being dumped from the position yesterday. "Bill Lahey, who will be given a new job in the public service, was axed under a series of sweeping reforms to the state's gaming regulatory branch. "Under the changes proposed by the Bracks Government, the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority will be replaced by a smaller Commission for Gaming Regulation. "And in a move that has won the approval of the Interchurch Gambling Taskforce, a full-time government officer will be appointed to hear community concerns about problem gambling.
