Florida Senate Leader Defends Gambling Option6 January 2003FLORIDA – As reported by the Brandenton Herald: "As the Florida Senate prepares for the upcoming legislative session, one issue dominates all of our discussions: How can we adequately fund a strained state budget suddenly burdened by the additional multi-billion-dollar demands of several citizen-approved constitutional amendments? The numbers are staggering and the answers are few. It is against this backdrop that all budget-balancing efforts are being viewed. Should we raise taxes? Should we cut services? Should we eliminate entire agencies? Should we look at new and untapped sources of revenue?
