FLORIDA LOTTO Jackpot Estimated at $50 Million17 July 2000TALLAHASSEE, Florida--(Press Release)--July 17, 2000--After seven rollovers, the FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot is now estimated at $50 million for the Wednesday, July 19, 2000 drawing. This makes the LOTTO jackpot the second highest in the nation, behind only the 21-state game Powerball with a jackpot of $57 million. If a sole winner chooses the single Cash Option payment, it would amount to approximately $23,700,000. Of course, the winner has the option of receiving the prize over 30 years which would amount to about $1.6 million annually. Want a more detailed breakdown? The winner would receive $4,560 per day or $190 per hour, 24 hours per day (even while the winner is sleeping)! The jackpot rolled over to $50 million from $40 million on Saturday night when no one correctly picked all six winning numbers. It was the result of seven rollovers. This rollover series began with a $5 million jackpot on June 24, 2000. Purchasing a $1 LOTTO ticket is a ``cool'' task; they are available at more than 8,500 retail locations across Florida. The deadline for purchasing tickets is at 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2000. Ticket sales are expected to peak late Wednesday afternoon and early evening at about 20,000 per minute. Players could experience some delay during this peak sales period. 38 cents of every lottery dollar goes to Florida's schools. |
