Florida Lottery to Help Boost Tourism, Economy22 January 2002TALLAHASSEE, Florida--(Press Release)--Jan. 22, 2002--Featuring more than $10 million in cash prizes and 90 vacation packages, the Florida Lottery's new $2 Scratch-Off game, Play FLA USA, leverages the Lottery's strength in the retail marketplace in an effort to help boost the Sunshine State's vital tourism industry. For Florida Lottery players, they have a chance to win up to $10,000 cash or Florida vacation getaway packages. But players don't have to win cash prizes or vacations to win with Play FLA USA. For added value, the game offers discounts at more than 300 Florida hotels and attractions for all non-winning tickets. Play FLA USA goes on sale statewide today, Jan. 22 at more than 11,600 Florida Lottery retail locations. Each Play FLA USA ticket offers Lottery players 10 chances to win up to $10,000 cash or a Florida vacation getaway package instantly. Players also can win free tickets and cash prizes of $2, $5, $10, $20, $30, $50 $100, $250, $500 and $5,000. Overall odds of winning any prize are 1: 3.53. Vacation packages include: -Seven-night cruises for two on Carnival Cruise Lines. Dolphin Adventure vacation prize packages for four at Miami Seaquarium. Vacation packages for up to four at a Universal Orlando®/SeaWorld Orlando theme park. Vacation packages for four at Kennedy Space Center. Seven-day/six-night vacation packages for four at one of the Panhandle's Emerald Coast resorts. In addition to cash prizes and vacation packages, all non-winning Play FLA USA tickets can be presented for discounts on goods and services at participating merchants throughout Florida. Play FLA USA tickets come in three different Florida-themed versions: a beach scene, a man enjoying Florida's beautiful coastline on a personal watercraft, and a charter fishing boat heading out to sea. Play FLA USA is designed to appeal to both Florida residents and tourists, and encourages everyone to enjoy the spectacular vacation opportunities Florida has to offer. In support of the game and Florida tourism, the Florida Lottery will be launching a $5 million advertising campaign including: point-of-sale materials; television and radio advertising; and a comprehensive Internet promotion/information presentation. In addition, the Lottery's retailer incentive program will provide retailers with double commissions on each $2 Play FLA USA ticket they sell. The commission pool for Play FLA USA totals $2 million. |
