Five Winnings Tickets Sold for Texas Lottery's $70 Million Jackpot24 June 2002DALLAS, Texas – As reported by the Associated Press: "Five winning tickets were sold for Saturday night's $70 million jackpot, the Texas Lottery Commission said. "The winning tickets were sold in Austin, Pearland, Sherman, Longview and Terrell, a lottery spokeswoman said. Four of the five tickets were bought Saturday. The winning numbers were 2, 11, 13, 16, 26 and 34. "Ticket-buying was at a frenzy Saturday amid dreams of diamonds, mansions and luxury cars. "The odds of winning Saturday night's jackpot were slim -- about 25.8 million to 1 -- but the potential payoff was even greater. "Each of the five winning tickets has a payoff of an estimated $14 million if spread over 20 years, or about $7 million if the cash-up-front option was specified.
