Fitzgeralds Casino Continues Expansion Plans with Purchase of Rohling Inn

30 August 2000

BLACK HAWK, Colorado--(Press Release)--Aug. 30, 2000--Fitzgeralds Casino Black Hawk today announced the purchase of the adjacent Rohling Inn property from the Lorenz family for an undisclosed amount.

Fitzgeralds Black Hawk Vice President and General Manager Joe Collins said, ``Initially we plan to move our administrative offices into the Rohling Inn building. We will then evaluate additional options to the Company's planned expansion to increase Fitzgeralds' gaming capacity and presence as the focal point of Main and Gregory Streets.''

Fitzgeralds has received most of the approvals for an expansion of approximately 9,000 square feet of gaming space, food and beverage facilities and additional guest amenities. The expansion will encompass the adjacent vacant lot and Masonic building while maintaining its historic integrity.

The Rohling Inn, which is designated as an historical building, was built in the 1860s and named for dry goods purveyor J.H. Phillip Rohling, a German immigrant who in 1884 established his Black Hawk store and later became the town's mayor.

Most recently, the Rohling building housed a casino operated by the Lorenz family, but had been closed for the past two years.
