Fine of €900,000 for MKC Limited for illegal offer

30 October 2023

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority has imposed a fine of MKC Limited of €900,000 for offering illegal games of chance. Dutch players could participate in online gambling on the website BetWorld247, owned by MKC Limited. MKC Limited is not licensed for this and is thus violating the Gaming Act (Wok).

Visitors to the website betworld247.com could create an account with Dutch address details, log in and participate in online gambling games when you check the Ksa with Dutch address details. No technical measures had been taken to stop participants from the Netherlands, for example with an IP blockade. The age of participating players was also not visibly verified.

René Jansen, chairman of the board of the Ksa: ‘At MKC Limited, players could introduce an age without clear identification. This means that their website is also accessible to very vulnerable, underage players. This is a serious culpable fact that we have also taken as a penitent-increasing factor. It shows once again that there seems to be little attention for the safety of players in the illegal market in many cases.”
