Federer & Clijsters U.S. Open Favorites At Pinnaclesports.Com

24 August 2005

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- With the final major championship of the tennis season beginning Monday at Flushing Meadows, PinnacleSports.com today released odds on who will win the Men's and Women's singles titles at the 2005 US Open. Although the tournament draw wasn't announced until earlier today, PinnacleSports.com had already made Roger Federer and Kim Clijsters the favorites to win this year's singles titles based on their current form and past success on the hard courts.

The largest sports betting site on the Internet, PinnacleSports.com has made the world's top ranked and seeded men's player Roger Federer the odds on favorite to win his second consecutive US Open singles title at 5/7 odds (i.e., win $5 for every $7 bet). Nineteen year old Spanish sensation Rafael Nadal has been listed at 9/2 to win his first US Open championship, while 2003 champion Andy Roddick is the most likely American challenger at 15/2 odds. PinnacleSports.com currently lists both last year's runner-up and 2001 champion Lleyton Hewitt and 2000 men's singles champ Marat Safin at odds of 15/1 to win their second US Open title. Two-time champion and seventh seed Andre Agassi, who may be playing in his final US Open, is 27/1 to capture his ninth Grand Slam title.

In addition to offering odds on individual players winning the tournament, PinnacleSports.com has created a unique betting option on the country of the eventual men's winner and lists Federer's native Switzerland as an overwhelming 5/7 favorite. Spain has the second best odds at 7/2 odds while the odds on an American capturing the country's biggest singles championship are listed at 13/2.

On the women's side, PinnacleSports.com has surprisingly made 2003 runner-up and this year's fourth seed Kim Clijsters a 2/1 favorite to win her first US Open singles title. The 2003 winner and this year's French Open champion Justine Henin-Hardenne has the second-best odds to win her fifth Grand Slam singles title at 11/4 odds despite only earning the seventh seed in this year's tournament. New women's number one Maria Sharapova, top-seeded for the tournament, is just 6/1 to win her first US Open, while Wimbledon champ Venus Williams is 8/1 to win her third US Open championship. Two-time champion Serena Williams (17/2) and 1998 winner Lindsey Davenport (12/1) round out the top American contenders with last year's champion Svetlana Kuznetsova a distant 29/1 to repeat this year.

PinnacleSports.com will also offer betting lines on every U.S. Open match utilizing their unique -105 pricing model that provides more value and up to 50% better odds to players than traditional sports books. For more information and a complete list of odds, please visit www.pinnaclesports.com.
