Experts Question Connecticut's Ban on New Casinos2 January 2003HARTFORD, Connecticut – As reported by the Associated Press: "Some legal experts are questioning the plan to block new gambling casinos in Connecticut with a repeal of the state's Las Vegas nights law. "The move could simply be a meaningless gesture, according to some of the experts, because the state already has two Indian-run casinos. "…Casino opponents are proposing a strategy to block future casinos but preserve the $400 million in annual revenue the state receives under the agreement that permits slot machines at Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort casinos. "However, that strategy could be very vulnerable in court, according to Cornelius Murray, an expert in constitutional law and attorney for a coalition of groups seeking to block casino-style gambling in New York.
