Exclusive Thai Casino Busted17 July 2002PENANG -- As reported by the (Malaysia) Star: ``An illegal casino catering exclusively to Malaysians was busted with the arrest of 27 people, including its operator, in southern Thailand recently, Malaysian consul-general in Songkhla Wan Jaafar Wan Mahmud said yesterday. ``The Malaysians, which included several couples, were picked up late last week by a Thai police team after weeks of surveillance. Among those arrested included the casino operator, in his 40s, who had been active for quite some time. ``Investigations showed that entry into the casino in Klongngae, Sadao, was only by invitation of its regulars. ``...Wan Jaafar said a substantial amount of cash and other gambling paraphernalia were also seized..." |
