Ex-Caesar's Exec Ready to Retry for License

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Former Caesars President Gary DiBartolomeo says he is rehabilitated from a gambling compulsion and ready to woo high rollers again.

"Three top casino bosses support his cause, each saying they would hire him.

"The Division of Gaming Enforcement adamantly opposes DiBartolomeo's re-entry, saying his litany of lies, regulatory violations and possible federal crimes warrants more than a two-year license revocation.

"The stage is set for a contentious hearing Wednesday before the Casino Control Commission, which will consider whether DiBartolomeo can reapply for a gaming license before the standard five-year revocation expires.

"DiBartolomeo is not yet asking for a license, only permission to be considered for one. If the commission approves, he would then have to prove the honesty, good character and integrity required for a license.

"...DiBartolomeo's therapist, Joseph Volpicelli of Philadelphia, said his client `no longer has any of the criteria for pathological gambling.'

"...Park Place Entertainment CEO Wallace Barr, Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Chief Operating Officer Mark Brown and Aztar President of Resort Operations Dennis Gomes vouched for his character and said they would hire him.

"Compulsive-gambling counselors Harvey Fogel and Ed Looney praised DiBartolomeo's rehabilitation..."
