Everest Poker Players Sent to Paris28 June 2006MONTREAL, Quebec – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Everest Poker sent three players to Paris to compete in the Grand Prix de Paris, one of the stops on the World Poker Tour: Asheru (France) abbas23 (Germany) gabatch (France) All three players were winners in Everest Poker's Direct Entry Satellite for the WPT Grand Prix de Paris. Each player earned a prize package which included the 10,000€ buy-in for the event, as well as $800 in spending money. abbas23 was eliminated in the first round, but both Asheru and gabatch played skillfully enough to advance. With 140 players battling to start the second round, Asheru found himself out of the tournament after moving all-in with a pair of Aces, beaten by three Kings. gabatch, meanwhile, managed to hang in and found himself in 28th place near the end of the day. With the top 27 players finishing in the money, gabatch was on the bubble, needing to survive one more elimination in order to walk away with guaranteed prize money. After moving all-in with a pair of Kings, gabatch also fell victim to bad luck, losing to a flush on the river. Despite the turn of events, gabatch remained cheerful and gracious, remarking, "Thanks to Everest Poker for letting us live our dream!" "Our players' competitive level just keeps improving," said Sandrine Dubois, Everest Poker's French Marketing Manager. "They're starting to become a force on the live tournament circuit, and we look forward to having one of them win the Grand Prix de Paris someday!"
