ESPN Signs Trump Poker Event Deal29 April 2004ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "ESPN is hoping Donald Trump's television ratings magic will prove lucky at the poker tables. "The sports network announced on Wednesday a five-year deal to broadcast Trump's U.S. Poker Championship. "The event, started by Trump in 1996 and held in the Trump Taj Mahal, brings the world's best poker players to town for a high-stakes tournament of Texas Hold 'Em. "ESPN will tape the final hands of the 19-day tournament in September and October, edit and package them into four one-hour shows to be aired in January or February. "… ESPN spokeswoman Keri Potts said this is the first extensive deal the network has signed for a poker tournament. "…The tournament is expected to draw famous poker players such as nine-time World Series of Poker champion Phil Hellmuth and last year's Poker Championship finalist John Hennigan…" |
