Emerald Casino Papers Could be Made Public29 May 2003ILLINOIS – As reported by the Chicago Tribune: "The Illinois Gaming Board put the Emerald Casino venture on notice Wednesday that it wants to release investigative reports from federal agents as part of a disciplinary hearing, as lawyers for the bankrupt riverboat firm filed an emergency motion in federal court seeking to block the move. "Board attorneys told Emerald lawyers they plan to use FBI memos and documents from the U.S. attorney's office as part of an administrative case scheduled to begin next week that is aimed at stripping the casino venture of a gambling license it once hoped to use for a riverboat in Rosemont. "The case against Emerald also will rely on `voluminous' reports by state investigators and sworn statements from key Emerald investors and Rosemont Mayor Donald Stephens, Gaming Board attorneys said. Rod Blagojevich continues to press for a quick license sale to generate at least $350 million for the cash-starved Illinois treasury…" |
