Dutch Gambling Authority investigating illegal affiliate sites

17 November 2022

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Gaming Authority is launching an investigation into websites that promote illegal online gambling offerings and thereby focus on extra vulnerable people.

When detecting illegal gambling offers, the Ksa came across so-called affiliate websites. They get paid if they provide web traffic to illegal gambling websites. These 'affiliates' use domain names such as 'casino withoutcruks' and 'casino without a license'.

Cruks stands for Central Register Exclusion of Games of Chance. This is the register that legal gambling providers must consult before admitting a player. Cruks lists people who are excluded from participation due to addiction problems. They usually did that themselves.

The Ksa finds it extra resentful that these affiliates focus on problem players. In addition to offering games of chance without a license, the promotion of illegal offers is also prohibited.
