Driver Sues Casino in Suburban Crash

ELGIN, Illinois -- As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times: ``A McHenry County woman is claiming the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin served too many drinks to a Rockford lawyer last year, after which he plowed his law firm's Mercedes into her car.

``…The allegedly drunken lawyer, Kevin P. Justen, rear-ended Smetters' Toyota Corolla on Route 31 in Algonquin Township, "throwing her vehicle violently" down an embankment, the suit claims. Justen could not be reached for comment.

``…The suit does not detail how much Justen drank at the casino, or when he arrived and departed. Donna More, a lawyer representing the Grand Victoria, said the casino had yet to receive Smetters' complaint and could not comment directly. All Grand Victoria employees, she said, are trained to spot intoxicated people and not serve them. Also, the casino does not give free drinks to gamblers..."
