Don't Miss the Bus

17 January 1999

Greyhound Lines, Inc. (Amex: BUS), and Station Casinos, Inc. (NYSE: STN) have teamed up to provide Las Vegas' only regularly scheduled bus service direct to four major casinos from southern California and Arizona.

The exclusive agreement includes 10 daily schedules to Palace Station Hotel & Casino, Boulder Station Hotel & Casino, Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel and Sunset Station Hotel & Casino.

Three "wrapped" buses featuring advertisements for the Station Casinos properties will be added to Greyhound's fleet. The first of the wrapped buses will make a special appearance when the new service is launched on January 22. The bus will depart Los Angeles at 8 a.m. and arrive at Palace Station Hotel & Casino at 1:20 p.m., carrying Greyhound passengers and employees to a special kick-off event.

"For residents in southern California and Arizona, Greyhound's Lucky Streak services provides the only daily bus departures direct to the casinos of Las Vegas," said Mike Abercrombie, manager, special services for Greyhound. "The everyday low fares combined with bonus offers from the casinos, frequent departures and open return dates make Greyhound the easy choice for casino transportation."

Greyhound has carried passengers to Las Vegas, Reno and Laughlin, Nev., for several years, but the new agreement brings visitors directly to the casinos, offers the casino bonuses and creates a network with one of Las Vegas' leading gaming operators. The growth of Greyhound's Lucky Streak service has been fueled by the growing casino market.

The agreement is built on the success the company has had with similar programs in other areas of the country. In Atlantic City, for instance, they carry almost a million passengers a year to 10 casinos. There's also a service to Foxwoods Casino and Resort in Connecticut, which has doubled in the past year.

"We have well over 100 departures a day dedicated to casino traffic nationwide, with growth of about 9 percent a year," Abercrombie said. In 1998, casino travel business contributed more than $30 million to Greyhound's revenues.
