Donald Trump Fired Up for Rhode Island Casino

JOHNSTON, Rhode Island -- As reported by the Boston Globe: "Donald Trump wants to make a deal with Johnston, R.I., an unassuming highway-side town perhaps best known as home of the state's biggest garbage landfill.

"Earlier this month, the celebrity real-estate mogul launched a quiet campaign to convince residents that Johnston could become the state's plinking, blinking Mecca for high-rollers, if only they will help him build a new resort and casino there. He's ready to play, if the town council is game.

"...Last week, James B. Perry, president and chief executive officer of New York-based Trump Entertainment Resorts, paid a visit to the Johnston town council, dispensing brochures and charts.

"... Legislative approval for a casino is far from certain. For years, Las Vegas-based Harrah's Entertainment and the Narragansett Indian tribe have pushed to build a casino in West Warwick, R.I., but have been stymied by courts and state legislators..."
