Donald doesn't get a bite at the gambling apple.26 October 2001Donald Trump won’t be on welfare anytime soon, but people who don''t think Albany''s gambling binge is going to hurt the Golden One believe that a Caesarean section is a suburb of Rome. Donald said, "Suddenly, the whole of New York State is going to become the biggest casino in the world," Donald has substantial holdings of games of chance in Atlantic City. Donald has enough money to spread around for his public relations and I won''t be part of it. But, whatever you think about gambling, whatever you think about Donald Trumpit is dealing from the bottom of the deck. Trumpster said "I am probably, and have been for some time, one of the biggest taxpayers in the history of New York state," Trump continued, "It will destroy whatever is left of tourism in New York City. They will go to the Catskills. It will do terrible things to the city, and there will be people from the city going there who will lose their rent or mortgage money," State Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Queens) said, an opponent of gambling for different reasons, "It is a little disingenuous for Trump to be talking like that." Someone who builds buildings, pays huge tax dollars to make my life easier, and is suddenly cut out of the deal . . . Well, political correctness has taken on bizarre proportions. Sen. Padavan sees a real problem about widespread gambling in New York: "Per capita, New York state has the worst record in the country of problem gamblers. One million people here are in trouble, real trouble, because of gambling." |
