Detroit Casinos May Stay Put15 April 2002DETROIT – As reported by the Associated Press: "If a deal is finalized, all of the city's three casinos could stay where they are to expand their gambling space and add hotels, restaurants, bars and theaters. "MGM Mirage, the Las Vegas company that owns the MGM Grand Detroit Casino, was the only bidder Friday for a nearly empty state building at the edge of downtown. "…The casinos have been operating in buildings originally intended as temporary locations. Previously, plans had called Greektown and MotorCity Casino to expand at their existing sites, and MGM to build a new casino on another site. "…MGM Mirage spokesman Alan Feldman left open the possibility that State Plaza is not the company's final choice, saying the company is still looking at other sites…" |
