Detroit Casino Figure to Finance California Project7 July 2003DETROIT, Michigan – As reported by the Associated Press: “Detroit businesswoman Marian Ilitch has formed an investment firm to financially back a proposed $150 million Indian casino in Barstow, Calif. -- a city on Interstate 15 about 150 miles south of Las Vegas. “…Ilitch helped spur Detroit's casino industry as a 25 percent stakeholder in MotorCity Casino. “…The California investment firm -- BarWest Gaming LLC -- would develop the casino project proposed by the Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeno Indians and would own the management contract, allowing it to basically run day-to-day operations.” |
