Detroit Casino Celebrates One Year Anniversary4 November 2001DETROIT, Michigan – Nov. 4, 2001 – As reported by the Associated Press: "Greektown Casino is celebrating it first anniversary this Saturday with 29 percent of the city's market share. "…Greektown was last to open and is competing against casinos run by three public Las Vegas operators: MGM Mirage, Mandalay Resort Group and Park Place Entertainment, which manages Casino Windsor and owns such casino chains as Caesar's. "…From its opening through Sept. 30, Greektown had revenues of $228.2 million, falling short of the $330 million estimated by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the $366 million predicted by an outside Greektown lawyer, state documents showed. "But the tribe is content with the financial performance and hopes it can duplicate the feat of Mandalay's MotorCity Casino, which opened in December 1999…" |
