Delta Downs Reopens After 18-Hour Shutdown

25 February 2002

VINTON, Louisiana – As reported by the Associated Press: " Delta Downs' 1,500 slot-machine casino was open and busy Saturday, a day after state police shut it down for problems handling cash.

"…Boyd is hiring more people for the slot parlor, and has flown in directors and managers from its other casinos to help run things until the parlor can fill all of its permanent positions, Stillwell said.

"…An order given to Boyd Gaming on Friday by the gambling board alleged several violations of casino regulations, including:

"Inability to properly reconcile gambling revenue.

"Failure to tell state police when casino personnel found three patrons under the age of 21.

"…Paying about $70,000 in jackpots without completing required paperwork. Some employees who distributed cash were not licensed to do so.

"A lack of surveillance tapes for state police review…"
