Delta Downs Fails Hiring Requirements

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – As reported by the Associated Press: "Delta Downs has been cited for not meeting a requirement to have a work force made up of at least 80 percent Louisiana residents.

"The announcement came at Tuesday's meeting of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

"Delta Downs is owned by Boyd Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas, which took over the track in February 2002. Board officials said Tuesday that Boyd had been unable to meet the 80 percent hiring requirement since it opened its slot parlor at the track, until the second quarter of 2003.

"…The notice of violation was sent Monday to the track, the attorney general's office said. The warning could be used to assess fines or other sanctions in case of other violations of gambling law…"
