Delta Downs Broadcasts Simulcasts Out of State

LOUISIANA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "More than two weeks into its 80-day meet, Delta Downs simulcast races out of state last weekend for the first time after an agreement was reached between the Louisiana Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association and the track.

"The purse for the Delta Jackpot, which was a point of contention between the two parties, remained at $500,000 per the agreement.

"…Delta Downs is the first track in Louisiana to install and operate slot machines. At issue was how revenue generated from the slot machines would be distributed. Of the 15% of slot revenue set aside for purses, 30% goes to races restricted to Louisiana-bred runners. Where the remaining 70% should be applied has caused some disagreement…"
