Delaware Poker Championship IV ends with chop; Norfolk, Va. man takes top spot at Dover Downs

2 September 2014

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Delaware Poker Championship IV, which began at noon on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, garnered 258 participants and a total prize pool guarantee of $129,000.

The final table played for over an hour with the winner being announced at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31.

Josh Chavis of Norfolk, Va., took home the Championship trophy and $15,000 in cash after the final two at the table chopped the pot.

“I was getting frustrated when the calls weren’t going my way,” said Josh Chavis, a 24-year-old construction worker. “Then I got more aggressive which ultimately got me to the win.”

Chavis, a newlywed, said he plans to take his wife out on a really great date with his winnings.
