Deer in the Spotlight

Judge Montie R. Deer of Wichita, Kansas, will be President Clinton's nominee to serve as chair of the National Indian Gaming Commission.

Judge Deer has been assistant U.S. attorney for the district of Kansas for four years, and also serves as a special tribal judge for the Muscogee Indian Nation. He also has served in a variety of posts as a director of legal services and director of numerous Indian tribes in Kansas.
