D.C. Lottery Awards Scientific Games Cooperative Services Contract

7 September 2005

NEW YORK – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS) announced that the Washington D.C. Lottery has awarded Scientific Games a contract to provide cooperative services including telemarketing, warehousing and distribution of instant tickets as well as other related services. The contract is scheduled to begin in November of 2005 and contains an initial term of one year with four one-year options to renew.

"We are very happy to be chosen by the D.C. Lottery" said Lorne Weil, chairman and CEO of Scientific Games Corporation. "Our Cooperative Services customers' instant ticket sales increased 24% in fiscal 2005(1) and it is our intention to apply the same successful principles to the D.C. Lottery program to drive its sales growth."

"We have worked very well with Scientific Games in the past and are looking forward to implementing this new program," said Jeanette A. Michael, Executive Director of the D.C. Lottery. "By adopting the Scientific Games Cooperative Services model, we expect to see significant sales increases and numerous synergies resulting in more money for the Lottery's beneficiaries."

In fiscal 2005, the D.C. Lottery generated $36 million in retail sales of instant tickets. Since 1982, the D.C. Lottery has transferred more than $1.1 billion to the city's General Fund, which supports education, healthcare, human services, and a variety of other programs that benefit those who reside and work in the District, as well as those who visit.
