Crooked Cops Sent to Jail for Leaking Casino Raid Info

FUKUOKA, Japan -- As reported by Mainichi Daily News: ``Three former Fukuoka police officers were handed jail sentences Tuesday for leaking confidential information to operators of illegal casino clubs in return for money.

``Assistant Inspector Kazuomi Sakata was sentenced to 4 years in jail and slapped with a fine of 18 million yen. Another assistant inspector, Kazuhiro Matsuo, was slapped with a 3-year term and a 3.5 million yen fine, while Sergeant Osamu Ikeda was handed a 34-month imprisonment with a fine of 8.7 million yen.

``…The casino club operator, Li Gong, was also sentenced to 30 months in jail.

``Court documents showed that 54-year-old Sakata and 52-year-old Ikeda supplied Li with investigative information, including dates of planned police raids from 1998 to 2001. Sakata pocketed a total of 17.1 million yen, while Ikeda received 8.7 million yen for the information…"
