Consumer Confidence In Net Slips27 March 2002U.S.A -- As reported by Newsbytes.com: ``Holiday e-shopping snafus and concern over risks associated with online buying eroded consumer confidence in the Internet, and more people expect to spend less on the Net in the upcoming quarter, a study has found. ``The lower rating was fueled by customer service problems, less reliable delivery of goods, credit-card security concerns and questions about how personal data is used, according to a Yahoo-A.C. Nielsen survey report issued today. ``The latest Internet confidence index of 111 points represents a four-point drop from the previous quarter's 115-point rating... ``...Heavy Internet users - more than in the first quarter - plan to spend $13.8 billion in online shopping in the second quarter, which is 5 percent less than projected first-quarter spending of $14.6 billion. Fifty-one percent of Internet users plan to shop online in the upcoming quarter, up from the current quarter's 47 percent. ``More than 40 percent of Internet surfers manage some aspect of their personal finances online ``...The index, designed to gauge consumer confidence in Internet products and services, is based on telephone interviews with 1,000 adults..." |
